Goal Accomplished!

So, maybe it is a little sad, but Ryan and I have to push ourselves to have a little adventure sometimes. This year we have come up with a goal to have a new experience or adventure each month. So far, we have done it! For April our adventure was going to Moab and Arches National Park for the first time. We only stayed a couple days, but it was so nice to have a little get-a-way. We drove up and arrived in Moab at dinnertime. We told Tim we were planning to stop at the hotel and go out to eat. Tim, who knew that our vacation involved hiking was so disappointed. He wanted to see the arches! I honestly, was shocked he was willing to put off a restaurant and checking out the hotel, because he loves both of those things. We decided we had snacked enough in the car and spent extra time in the car venturing through the canyon to the arches just for Tim. He thought it was worth it and didn't even  really feel hungry until we had waited for an hour for our food at the Mexican restaurant afterward. :)
Some of our best friends also decided to head down to Moab and we had alot of fun hanging out with their family. I am pretty sure having buddies to hang out with made the trip 5 x's more fun for Tim and Mary. Above: Emma and Tim

Mary and Hannah. It was the cutest thing hearing these two girls converse. My favorite discussion might have been one about hair-do's and Mary telling Hannah how the side pony tail is pretty much the greatest hairstyle ever.
On our way to landscape arch. I think this might be horseshoe arch? I dunno. I might be making up names.
 Tim pointing to Window arch.
 Turret Arch ahead.

Family photo op at Turret Arch.

Tim loved exploring every nook and cranny...Ryan usually joined.
Tim and Mary at Window Arch (random orange-shirt guy too)
 A little sunny, eh?
 Double Arch.
 Ryan and Tim's sillouhettes.
 Emma and crew.

This is a souveneir shop literally in the rocks outside of Moab. A man and his wife dug out a hole 'n' the rock home before the souveneir shop was there. They lived there for years until the man finally passed away semi-recently. We took a tour of the home in the rock and i thought it would be a little one-room, dinky thing. Nope, bigger than our house. Pretty amazing. They lived there for years.

At Sand dune arch. Mary and Hannah loving the sand.

We didn't get as much time to swim as we would have liked. but we did get to go one time. The hotel was pretty fun and family-friendly. Ryan thinks a "free' hot breakfast buffet is the best thing ever and the kids loved the pool and there was even a huge park that was part of the hotel grounds. The TV in the kid's room was a pretty good bonus for them too.
I honestly think a favorite activity for the kids just might have been the petting zoo. It was right across from the Hole n the Rock souveneir shop.
 Hannah, Tim and Mary.
They fed the animals plenty of food that we purchased. When they finished they were so enthralled with the experience they scouted out the ground for any scraps of food and fed the animals any scraps they found. They didn't want the fun to end.
We tried two different restaurants before we ended up at Wendy's. Spring break is a busy time in Moab.
Thumb wars.

Goings on at the Glenn's said...

How FUN! Looks like it was a beautiful trip. Our srping break wasn't nearly as fun. In fact I can say it wasn't. WE just went out to the Olive Garden for my birthday and were bums at home. The weather wasn't much help either. We're still waiting for that sunshine and for Dan to have a weekend off work. grrrr. but I should stop whining now. Glad you guys had such a fun trip
